System Integration

System Integration involves making sure all systems go together in a robot, taking such factors as flexibility, center of gravity, and overall strategy and implementation into account.  Additionally, it involves modeling the robot, and sending it to our sponsor Vertec, who fabricates the sheet metal for our robot.

CAD nearly done

VP System Integration : February 4, 2012 2:23 pm : System Integration

Hey all,

Hopefully by the end of today the CAD will be nearly finished.  The largest problem we’ve encountered with CADing is transferring files between the 2012 Inventor, and 2011 Inventor.  It’s easy to transfer files up to 2012 from 2011, but it’s impossible to transfer 2012 back to 2011.  My team has searched the internet for a solution, but to to no avail.  Since all our updated files are now in 2012, the team can only CAD in the main assembly on the two computers that have 2012 Inventor.  Other than that setback, we’ve modeled nearly every system and we hope to be finished by the time we get the parts to start assembling our physical robot.

Hmmm… In other news the freeze ray is almost done.  It’s missing the nitrogen chamber, among other yet to be named modules.  It’s not for the robot obviously, using a freeze ray in competition would be neither gracious nor professional.  It would be awesome though in the outside world, I mean imagine having a freeze ray, you could freeze your sprinkler and play in the suspended water particles!  I hope it comes together in the end, with no explosions or anything.

Peace Out- M&M
