Don’t you just hate that?

VP Mobility : April 4, 2012 8:01 pm : Mobility

Don’t you just hate it when you tell someone something and they think they understand but don’t and then they tell you you’re wrong when if they understood you would be right but they don’t want to be wrong so they think you’re wrong no matter what now they think you’re wrong but they’re wrong!? ugh! And don’t you just hate it what you get a book that is entitled “Don’t you just hate that?” and it has nothing in it that you hate or even understand!? And don’t you just hate it when- wait… wrong blog…

Anyway! New arm has been developed! And it looks a bit like a vacuum… but now it has an angle so we can complete our auto by backing up and tilting the bridge and get those balls! We’re going to champions which is very exciting and we were number one seed and won the Colorado Regional! Yay! We are still trying hard and trying to work as hard as we can so we can be the best we can be at Chapions! whether our hardest is enough, we won’t know till we get there! Either way it will be a fantastic experience none the less and I am so proud of everyone so far and very very happy to be a part of the team! (Sorry senior moment kicked in… Just realizing I’m about to depart and leave everyone! I’m so sad… But excited for college! Yay!) Either way we are proud and prepared!

Quotes of the Day:

Forest: *watching the main light blink*

Nathan: “Why are you watching the light flash? Do you like watching the light flash?”

Forest: “Yes I do.. it means everything is working.”

Mr. Mclean: “Why did you have to tell the students I have duct tape? You had to tell them we got tons of new duct tape? I’ve got like 15 kids asking me for some already!”

Mr. Hilty: “Well you should’ve made it clear that it was a secret!”

Mr. Murphy: *Hands Nathan a nut*

Nathan: “What is this for?”

Mr. Murphy: “You lost a nut.”

Nathan: “But I didn’t..? What..?”

Mr. Murphy: *Walks away giggling*

Pokemon! Gotta Catch Them All!

VP Mobility : March 15, 2012 7:27 pm : Mobility

SO why is it that in all of the series of pokemon, Ash doesn’t age!? And how is it that these three kids can just WANDER around by themselves at the ages of 10, 12 and 13!? Who let’s their child wander around the world at the age of 10!? That’s ridiculous! I believe in the “Coma” Theory. Basically the very first episode, Ash steals Misty bike and basically eats it and then wakes up later. I think when he wakes up he is actually just dreaming in a coma and that’s why he can just wander around and is still 10! Makes sense, huh!? And the only reason why Misty is there is because he liked her and Broc is just his ageing self in the real world. That’s why Broc likes EVERY- Wait… wrong blog….

ANYWAY! Guess what 2996 stalkers!? The arm is done!!! Yay!!! Now the robot is in the loving hands of the programmers and they will treat it well and make the robot do what it needs to do. Sadly, we could not do the 2 arm system and we just went with the one arm system. We designed the arm to pick up the bridge so we can lift off the bridge up and get the balls out from under it. It’s been a good day. Good work team.

Best Quotes of the Day:

Eleanor: “Lena!”

Lena: “Oh you remembered my name? Are you sure I’m not Jasmine?”

Eleanor: “No you can’t be Jasmine. She’s the mean one..”

Where’s the snow?!

VP Mobility : March 8, 2012 5:58 pm : Mobility

So all these news stations were RANTING about this hard core snow we were suppose to be getting last night and all of today and its like.. What 65 degrees out side? What the tomfoolery is this!? I mean… If your gonna RANT about it snowing it better- Wait… Wrong blog…

Anyway! Kansas City went super well! We learned a lot and had LOADS of fun! 662 was a great team to travel with! We got along well! And we have things to work on like shooter and the arm but we’ll be done by Denver!! Yay!

Best Quotes from KC:

“Do you know what that sounds like? It sounds like we’re too poor for that restraunt…” ~ Lena

“You look like the feeling my arm gets when it falls asleep.” ~ Mandy

“Hey baby, save me some forks.” ~ Alisia

“Those are some elegant stairs.” ~ Nathan

Finger Paintings!?

VP Mobility : February 20, 2012 9:55 am : Mobility

So a few years back there was this 5-year-old who was featured at the Colorado Springs Art Gallery for his finger paints and they sold for several 100 dollars each… I can finger paint in my sleep.. But no one sees my sleep finger paints in an art gallery selling for hundreds of dollars each! Noooo! It’s special cause this kid is FIVE… and they interviewed this child and asked him how he felt about his paintings and you wanna know his response?! “I like color.”… If someone asked me that I’d at least come up with something clever like- oh wait…. this is the wrong blog…

ANYWAY! Lena here! We had an awesome learning experience from scrimmage that I think every team there definitely learned a lot from. I know, as mobility VP, that we have to change our wheels. To what? We have yet to test. Today, the Sierra team will stop by and work with us on bridge balancing because they only ran one match at the scrimmage and would like more practice. For the mean time we have to test this crazy wheel configurations and hope we don’t over heat our motors… I got the magic in me…

Best Quote From Scrimmage:

Someone: “Why isn’t the gimbal working?”

Jenna: “Because we broke electricity..”

Challenge accepted!

VP Mobility : February 13, 2012 8:07 pm : Mobility

I was challenged to fight a bear with my bare hands! And so I went out to Mount Doom and figured out that there are no bears- wait… wrong blog…

Back to Mobility updates! We have finished everything on our rough draft robot and are waiting for wheels for the final draft robot. We’ve done all of our parts list and have just about everything printed and cut and drilled and made and cooked and cleaned and fixed and broken and soaked and yeah! We are excitedly anticipating out scrimmage this weekend and are very prepared! Everyday I see my dream…

Best Quote of the Day:

Grace: “Zac! Come CAD!”

Zac: “Ah hahaha… CAD and I are no longer on speaking terms…”

Firefly!?

VP Mobility : February 4, 2012 3:41 pm : Mobility

Progress! They said they’re bringing back Firefly!- wait… wrong blog…
Anyway! We disassembled our wooden prototype robot. We actually finished organizing our cabinet and our box filled with parts to put on the chassis we’ll be getting Monday! And our chassis will literally be a new definition of “beauitful”. Vertec is doing a beautiful job of making our chassis! It’s.. amazing. All we’re waiting for in some pneumatic wheels and new gear boxes… and for Firefly to come back…
Best Quote of the Day:
“Hey guys! Can I test this program on the…”
