2011

2011 FTC Team 3635 had a terrific build season. Serving as FRC Team 2996’s JV team, FTC rotates out completely new members every year. For freshmen rookies, these team members impressed the judges at the Colorado Regional in Denver.

At the Colorado Championship Tournament s on March 5th, FIRST team 3635 showed that freshmen can accomplish just as much and even more than upperclassmen, placing 4th overall and competing in the final rounds.

Game Description:

The objective of “Get Over It” was to take batons out of dispensers and place them in either the rolling or stationary goals, with the added challenge of maneuvering over a 6 inch mountain and/or balance bridge. The cooperation challenge during the end game required us to achieve static equilibrium with our alliance on the balance bridge.

Design Solution:

Retrieving batons from the stationary dispensary was the path we took. A problem that we saw early on was that we would need a lot of accuracy. Therefore, we decided to go after one of the set height of the baton dispensaries.  With that, the decision was to go for the stationary goal which was a corrugated plastic square on the floor. To achieve the challenge of balancing on the Cooperation Bridge, we made an arm that would tip the bridge and allow us to get on it. Combined with extensive team integration, we were able to balance with our alliance numerous times.
